Philosophy Major at UC Berkeley with 3.85 GPA

Experience

As a philosophy major, I wrote dozens of essays. I wanted to get straight A's, so I would go to my professor's office hours at least one time for each essay I wrote in order to get advice and feedback on my ideas and rough drafts. In doing this, I learned a great deal of effective writing and brainstorming strategies. Because of this, many of my classmates came to me for essay advice and pointers. Along with improving my writing skills, I learned a great deal about Philosophy and the ideas of many of the great philosophers. Along with this, I just got back to California from teaching English in Thailand for a semester. In doing this, I learned a great deal about the learning and teaching process and my ability to teach and tutor greatly improved. I have also taken three years of Spanish in high school and have been studying it on my own for the past 5 months. Because of this, I have learned different strategies that have helped me to learn and remember the Spanish language which I can now teach others. So, by teaching English to Thai speakers and by learning Spanish, I believe that I can tutor English to Spanish speakers and also basic to intermediate Spanish to English speakers.

I am a very approachable and friendly guy! My main interests are Philosophy, reading classic novels, studying Spanish, and staying active. I love meeting new people because there's something to learn from everyone. I love hanging with a few people and discussing big issues and ideas. Besides this, I love traveling! Living and teaching in Thailand was an incredible experience and it really shines a new light on things that I normally take for granted.
